About Los Yoses

Los Yoses sits on the eastern side of San José between downtown and the university town of San Pedro, and was once home to the cream of Costa Rican society. Its streets are lined with elegant mid-century houses, foreign embassies, art galleries and a growing crop of contemporary condo buildings, giving it a refined yet relaxed character. With the University of Costa Rica and numerous cultural institutions close at hand, the neighborhood draws a dynamic mix of professionals, diplomats, students and expats. Unlike the car-dependent western suburbs, Los Yoses is genuinely walkable: residents can reach supermarkets, bus lines, bookshops, cafes and restaurants on foot, and Mall San Pedro and the university scene are minutes away. The area is actively gentrifying alongside neighboring Barrio Escalante, with new modern condominiums offering rooftop views, pools, gyms and 24/7 security appearing among the historic homes. That blend of heritage, culture and urban convenience has made Los Yoses one of San José's most desirable and steadily appreciating in-town addresses.
