The Sé district wraps around the 11th–12th century Sé de Braga cathedral and the arcaded Praça da República, threaded by pedestrian streets like Rua do Souto and the baroque Arco da Porta Nova gate. It is the ceremonial and social heart of a city famous for Holy Week processions and the riotous São João festival. Day to day, residents live above ground-floor cafés and pastelarias, walk to the Mercado Municipal, and reach Porto by train in about 40 minutes. Renovated period apartments are scarce and prized, keeping central values above the wider Braga average.
